The Regal Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus DORY) is an intensely colored and beautiful marine fish. Also known as the Palette Surgeonfish of Hippo Tang, it is a popular representative of the reef community. Found in the coral rich areas of the Indo-Pacific region, the Regal Tang lives in small groups or in pairs.

Juveniles feed mainly on plankton and algaes while adults are omnivorous. It is a prized aquarium fish, though dificult to maintain in captivity.
